Have you ever woken up on a Monday morning (or Tuesday…or Wednesday…), stood at your closet, and been at a loss for what to wear? Here’s some inspiration from three great sources for all things fashion:
1. College Fashionista‘s “Boho Rocker Chick” In this article, The College Fashionista Team sheds light on Anna Sui’s Fall 2014 collection in which she mixed her traditional boho style with a more edgy, rocker vibe through the use of bright colors and patterns, fur coats, and embellishments. Their own Fashionista paid homage to the collection to show how easy it is to recreate Sui’s looks. She wore a loose-fitting, vintage-esque maxi dress with a funky print, alongside motorcycle-babe-worthy ankle booties, a black floppy hat, a statement necklace, and sunglasses John Lennon would be proud of. While the dress and hat stand by more traditional boho looks, the buckled booties and sunglasses give it a unique flair that breathes new life into the style, just as Sui’s Fall 2014 line has. The chunky black and antique gold chain necklace completes the look by tying the femininity of the dress and the edge of the motorcycle boots together to make it cohesive as a whole. 2. Man Repeller’s “What to Wear in Transitional Weather?” After making a sadly accurate menstrual cycle metaphor, Esther Levy clues readers in on how to dress during “transitional weather.” You know, that weather that San Luis Obispo is so aptly known for – brisk chills in the morning and uncomfortably warm sunshine by mid-afternoon. Levy says the key to dressing in this unfortunate type of weather is “strategic layering,” and then shows readers how to do just that. She wears a black sleeveless turtleneck underneath a white and grey striped tunic over light wash distressed jeans. My personal take on Transitional Weather Wear
3. College Fashion‘s “Easy Outfit Formulas” This article written by Callan from Whitman College gives readers three ways to wear two staple items: bootcut jeans and a button-up shirt. Her first look she calls “polished and preppy,” and pairs the bootcut jeans and button-up shirt with a brown leather satchel, brown leather oxfords, and a royal purple sweater. The second look, “rustic fall,” pairs the boots and button-up with short brown leather cowboy boots, an oversized cardigan, and a circle scarf. The third and final look, “modern classics,” pairs the jeans and shirt combo with a black fitted blazer, clutch, a classic pair of pumps, and statement earrings.
